I honestly feel everything Donald Glover touches turns to gold. I flash back to Donald’s sketches on CollegeHumor before he was on Community. Next, I fast forward to some of his stand up, the short stint as a DJ, and his foray in rap which make up the entirety of his moniker Childish Gambino. Coming full circle, Atlanta is a continuation of his need to push into new areas and do something different. Some can say Atlanta is a continuation of Because The Internet (I see you Sierra). Regardless, this is needed for our generation and for the state of television to add more representation of the lives of POC BY POC.

The rationale behind me starting off with a quick synopsis of who Donald Glover is will explain why Atlanta is made so perfectly. Our three main characters provide three different point of views for the Atlanta lifestyle (Earnest/Alfred/Darius). Donald has an interesting method to blend so many worlds together and somehow make it feel seamless. All three of the major characters bring a unique dynamic to the show. Earnest is our primary protagonist who we follow for the majority of the show. His cousin Alfred also happens to be an up-and-coming rapper who goes by the name Paper Boi. Paper Boi’s right hand man Darius brings laughs every time he is onscreen. The reason we connect to these three so easily is because we can imagine versions of these three in various parts of the country as well as understand the inside jokes amongst fellow POC.
I think the best part of watching TV shows nowadays is live tweeting with others across the country to share the experiences. Here are a few of my favorite tweets from the live tweeting:

I am quite committed to this show Atlanta not only because one of my favorite actors/rappers is executive producing it but because of the realistic take on life in Atlanta through black eyes. See y’all next Tuesday at 10PM EST on FX!
